HeroWarz is a free to play character based MMORPG published by Kog Games - the same studio behind Elsword Online and previously Grand Chase. The game features stage based progression similar to games like Dragon Nest, Dungeon Fighter Online, and Vindictus. The majority of gameplay takes place in co-op levels either alone or with friends. Despite the PvE emphasis, the game does feature a PvP arena. The video above shows off some early gameplay and was recorded during the closed beta.
After a year and a half in Early Access, Fractured Space has officially gone free-to-play. Players can now download and play the space battle MOBA as much as they would like completely for free without fear of the free weekend ending.
A major update also went live recently. The update adds two maps, a Drop System, new missions, and a Firing Range feature that allows players to try ships before they buy. The full update description is as follows.
The new update, which is live today, enriches the gameplay system with highly anticipated additions to the game. In addition to two new sector maps, two new ships and better game balancing, Fractured Space introduces a Drop System that offers rewards to players for a variety of in-game activities while simultaneously making the method of acquiring new crew members more satisfying. Allods Team and My.com announced today that Skyforge's latest major update, Cybernetic Alliance, will be launching on June 1st. The update will introduce the following additions.
Companions: Flavius has realized the significant benefit his autonomous robotic multi-tools provide him on a daily basis. With that in mind, he's gotten to work on supplying the Immortals with a companion of their very own! This little guy will show you a little more respect than what Argus has made you accustomed, will provide minor assistance during combat, and more!
Akonita’s Avatar: Face off against the Avatar of the Akonita, the Great God of the Gorgonides. The first encounter will give you time to practice your skills against her as she prepares to make a personal appearance during a future Invasion. Board the Gorgonide vessel, confront this threat, and ensure Aelion’s safety for another day!
Equipment Refinement: The system related to the improvement of Boosters for the Main, Additional, and Ring slots will be undergoing an overhaul. The new setup will see Particles of Mastery removed and the ability to spend either Upgrade Stones or Credits.
Class Balancing: It’s time to continue our series of class adjustments! Players can expect beneficial changes to talents or skills of the Archer, Witch, Slayer, Monk, and others!
D2 Distortion: The D-Series Distortions will continue with addition of the second phase of the Death Dealers and pit you against the Frenzied Carrions. The bloodlust of these carrions grew over the years, eventually eclipsing the remaining shreds of sanity they possessed. When there were no enemies left, they attacked the nearest living beings - the Reapers - and tore them apart. But even that did not quench their thirst...
More features included in the update will be announced in the time leading up to its release.
Additionally, the Skyforge soundtrack has been released on YouTube in two volumes, which you can find embedded below.
So I saw an ad for Legend Knight (Browser MMORPG) earlier today and decided to click on it out of curiosity because the ad was absurd and had no relevance to the actual game:
Pretty sure they meant to type "Male Gamers Only", as "Male Games Only" doesn't really make sense. The ad itself is misleading and silly, but what made me really laugh is the fake testimonials on the landing page after clicking the ad:
Not only are the 2 names in the testimonials OBVIOUSLY fake, but they're also the exact same testimonial! The folks behind Legend Knight are spending THOUSANDS of dollars advertising the game, but didn't even bother to make their landing page look more legit? I mean come on! Arthur Appleton and Abby Ashworth? Just google the quote in the testimonial and you'll see that it appears nowhere - further confirming it's fake.
I thought this was pretty funny. Hey advertisers - before you blow thousands of dollars on an ads, make sure you design better landing pages. Oh and don't use the same fake testimonial twice!
As stupid as this ad is, my favorite absurd advertisement is still this old Wartune (A pay 2 win browser strategy game) banner:
Trion Worlds announced today that RIFT has received a new 10-player raid called The Comet of Ahnket. The raid is described as follows.
Raids are the ultimate player vs. environment content in most MMOs, and players will travel to The Comet of Ahnket to engage the latest planar evils and earn some of the best rewards in the game. The new raid comes just weeks after RIFT’s latest update lowering difficulty and gear requirements for raids, meaning new and returning players can enjoy endgame content faster than ever. Working together, a group of Ascended heroes can overcome any threat!
A new trailer showing the raid off—embedded below—was released alongside the announcement. For more information about The Comet of Ahnket, check out the official blog post about it.
Epic Games has announced that Paragon will be hosting another free weekend from May 26th to May 30th. The free weekend will be open to all PC and PS4 users that sign up for Beta by May 25th. All heroes will be available to free users, as always.
If you didn't get your fill of Paragon during the last free weekend or simply weren't sure about it yet, the weekend of May 26th is your chance to play for free again. It will also be your first chance to try out the game's latest hero, Grim.exe.
Albion Online's Darian update, the final update before the new world and second phase of Beta, is here. It brings with it several features that help facilitate the move into the next phase of Beta. The new features are as follows.
Morgana Faction Rework – more interactive and challenging high-tier PvE content.
Morgana-themed Furniture – rare placeable furniture that can be used to decorate your island or territory.
12 New Weapon Spells – to offer you new combinations and tactical gameplay options.
Crafting: Item Study – deconstruct items to learn your craft quicker.
Learning Point System Improvements – expanding the options for players to spend their Learning Points.
Various Fixes and Improvements – balancing, improvements on the localization and a plethora of bugfixes.
The new Item Study feature is particularly interesting because it allows players to study unused crafting items to advance their craft. Players will no longer be required to "salvage or underprice unused items."
When I first began playing Black Desert Online, one of the first things I did was open the map and check where the desert was. Much to my dismay, it wasn't in-game yet. But it finally will be on June 1st when the Valencia Part One update goes live.
Valencia Part One trails behind Mediah Part Two by only a month, bringing the eponymous desert into the game once and for the all. All told, the update will increase the size of the world by 30%, adding "hundreds of new quests" in the process. Some even add to the game's main storyline.
The update is described as follows.
With Valencia Part One, players will be able to journey to an expansive desert region where exploration will take a completely different turn. Extreme heat during daytime requires proper hydration, and intense cold at night requires players to stay warm. Additionally, a new weather effect, sandstorm, inflicts damage unless players set up a tent to protect themselves. The minimap will be unavailable, but getting lost is not all bad―who knows what treasure your shovel may strike?
Regular horses and wagons are not ideal to traverse the desert and will see their speed lowered. Thankfully, players will be able to purchase Camels from NPCs, which fare much better in these harsh conditions. Another new mount, the Guild-owned Elephant, serves as a powerful war mount in sieges.
Valencia Part One also adds new weapons, armor, and accessories, such as the Rocaba Armor that grants an evasion bonus, or the Rosar weapons that ignore resistances. Additionally, improvements to the enhancement system will allow players to upgrade their weapons and armor up to +20. The less battle-oriented will be pleased to know that new crafting recipes and crops will also make an appearance.
Details of the climb to +20 on weapons and armor have yet to be revealed. It is unknown if that tier of enchants will remain identical to the Korean release or if it will be toned down. In the Korean release, when upgrading beyond +15, there is a chance for the gear to downgrade, sometimes multiple levels at once.
Additionally, on June 15th, Castle and Node Siege testing will begin. It will be available for two weeks, allowing players to get used to the systems, before the results are wiped. The two weeks of testing will also be used to "to test the reworked server arrangement."
HeroWarz, the second title to be published by KOG Games, has officially entered Closed Beta. The Closed Beta will run from now until May 22nd and allows players to get a taste of the game's PvE mode with one of five different characters: Ara, Audrey, B, Derrick, and Nagne. The Arena TV PvP mode will not be playable during the Closed Beta.
There are several differences between the original Korean version of HeroWarz and the global version. Some of these differences are described as follows.
When compared to the Korean version of HeroWarz, many aspects of Global release have gone through major overhauls. In fact, the changes were so drastic that the internal code name for the project was 'Reboot'. So with the Global version, they've focused on enhancing what are considered the most fun elements from the Korean version, while vastly improving on or adding game features that they felt had been lacking.
The HeroWarz team went to great lengths to showcase the remarkable story, lore, and most importantly, the characters of HeroWarz. Each of the characters possess their own unique story, design, playstyle, and of course, skills and abilities. That said, the characters will be one of the most appealing features of HeroWarz.
For example, nicknamed "Heavy Metal", the character Derrick can utilize these item passives to be cast into a support character role and protect allies, or become a bulldozer, direct damage type and charge head-on, or deal AOE damage and commit to the sought after crowd control role. However, the skills don't directly change how the character handles, but compliment the very diverse and unique combat design of each character. The fun part... this can all change on the fly, as all you need to do is change out your gear to reflect your desired build strategy.
HeroWarz isn't another run of the mill, post-apocalyptic war song. HeroWarz tells a story about the destruction of reality and then the recreation. The omnipotent super-reality of dreams-become-reality is the foundation. The story progresses from the mundane perspective of how the recreation of civilization takes place, then branches out quickly, subtlety and then violently... incorporating a number of different realities. As players make their way through the game, they will encounter characters, stories and environments as if in a totally different world, a dreamscape. To Harry Kim (CEO of A.Storm), imagining and writing these new stories personify unconditional passion; possibly even more so than producing the game itself! In addition to the game's main story development, there are plans for an episodic-style release for each of HeroWarz playable characters.
