Greed Monger Reaches "The Final End Of The Road"

Greed Monger has been surrounded by drama since its successful run on Kickstarter in late 2012. At one time, its lead programmer quit. The rights to the game were signed over to the same programmer that quit and another member of the team. The remaining team members ended the project when they ran out of funding and the original owner wouldn't take the rights to the game back. At the beginning of the year, it was announced that their hiatus only lasted a few months and the game was back in development.

Today, however, we learn that the team has reached "the final end of the road for Greed Monger." The following message was posted to their development blog announcing the news.

After careful consideration giving GM’s track record and the number of people we still have in the community we have decided it’s best to put Greed Monger to rest for good. There is no way that Greed Monger could support it’s self with as small of a user base as we would have.

It’s been fun working with you guys all these years and I hope you guys find homes in future MMOs.

It is unclear if this hiatus really is "the final end of the road" or not but, for the time being, it seems that Greed Monger may actually be canceled.
