NetEase’s New LA-Based Studio BulletFarm Is Working On An Original AAA Co-op Game

While you’re probably already familiar with the terms bullet hell and bullet heaven, you’ve likely never heard of BulletFarm. That’s because it’s the name of a newly created “remote-first AAA studio” by Chinese tech giant NetEase.
According to the official press release, the new Los Angeles-based studio is being headed by former Treyarch developer David Vonderhaar who’s joined by another ex-Treyarch dev, Chris Cowell, and lead environment artist Eric Klokstad. Vonderhaar previously worked on several Call of Duty games including Call of Duty: Black Ops while Cowell and Klokstad’s credits include the first Guild Wars game and Boss Key Studios’ LawBreakers and Radical Heights.
BulletFarm is reportedly already working on a AAA co-op game set in an original universe that’s being built on Unreal Engine 5. The studio is also touting its commitment to launching a complete game without battle passes and seasonal content release. It’s still in the very early stages of development, so it’s probably going to be a while before we get any solid news on that front.
