League of Legends Unveils New Champion: Ekko

Riot Games has released a new trailer video that showcases a brand new champion for League of Legends, Ekko.  Based on the video it seems to be a time-manipulating champion, which again is an incredible but also dangerous mechanic to have.  In the video, Ekko can be seen fighting an Urgot-like enemy, and utilizes his ability to reverse time in succession to overcome his foe.

It seems that many games are attempting to take their own shot at the Chronomancer with Guildwars and Tree of Savior also taking them on.  But one can only wonder how this would work in a MOBA setting which is much more fast paced with much higher stakes per death.  Will Riot be able to deliver on gameplay that was showcased on the video without hampering other players?

Sins of a Dark Age Joins The Free To Play Family

Hooray!  Dark Fantasy MOBA, Sins of a Dark Age, joins the brotherhood of Free to Play Mobas, hopefully adding new players into its ranks.  The game had previously been on early access and is now available to players with servers in several regions.  One major point to note is that the game is not restricted by location, which is an important factor to those with friends across the world. The game also features steam and twitch integration, which is becoming all the more important nowadays.

Nova Genesis Adds New Daemon System

Browser-based Turn-based MMORPG, Nova Genesis, has released a new patch which introduces a new Daemon System.  Daemons are pets that are unlockable at lvl 50, can be raised and can also be evolved through an incubation system.   Daemons help out players during combat, granting boons and sometimes active effects based on their skills.

Dota 2 6.48b Balance Updates

Highly popular MOBA, Dota 2, has updated yesterday with new balance changes.  The new changes mostly deal with minor tweaks to item and mob values, however there was a 40% upgrade to Roshan's armor upgrade from 1 per 8 mins to 1.4 per 8 mins.   While it might not seem like much at a first glance, it would seem to be an answer to community outcry that Roshan is too easy to kill, granting such a huge benefit while giving teams little time to respond to the threat.  Hopefully this will solve the problem:RoshanModel

  • Roshan armor upgrade increased from 1 per 8 minutes to 1.4 per 8 minutes
  • Familiars hit requirement reduced from 4 to 3
  • Enrage damage multiplier reduced from 2/2.5/3 to 1.5/2/2.5
  • Glimmer Cape Magic Resistance reduced 66% to 55%
  • Glimmer Cape and Shadow Amulet Attack Speed reduced from 30 to 20
  • Silver Edge recipe cost increased from 350 to 600
  • Flesh Golem minimum damage amplification reduced from 5/10/15% to 1% (same for scepter)
  • Flesh Golem minimum slow reduced from 5% to 1%
  • Soul Rip manacost increased from 50/75/100/125 to 100/110/120/130
  • Zombies no longer require two hits to kill from Towers
  • Stampede Scepter damage reduction from 70% to 60%
  • Gyrocopter base Intelligence reduced from 23 to 19
  • Queen of Pain base movement speed reduced from 300 to 295
  • Hawk movement speed from 250/300/350/400 to 250/275/300/325

Trove: Boomeranger what?

Trove has announced new class to arrive sometime this month for Monster Bash, the Boomeranger.  The class seems to draw inspiration from Link, the Hero of Time himself as the class draws upon bow, blade, bomb and... boomerang.  The class really takes advantage of a jack-of-all-trades archetype with a passive that deals a bonus effect on your third attack-- Whether if that's a barrage of arrows or whirlwind spin attack with your sword.
