Shores of Hazeron Headed To Mac
With its crude graphics and near-impenetrable learning curve, the 4X FPS MMO of sorts, Shores of Hazeron, was a tough sell even before it went pay-to-play. Since the relaunch earlier this year, the addition of a subscription, and the exodus of one of the game's largest empires, the niche has become even smaller and the game has seen a large number of its players leave.
The developer, who goes by the name of "Haxus," isn't about to give up just yet, though. He made a statement on the forums today that said, in no uncertain terms, that he had taken a sabbatical from new features and all but minor fixes so that he would have the time to change the game's shading language from Cg to the cross-platform, OpenGL standard, GLSL, in effect bringing down a major barrier towards a native Mac port. You can also see on the game's update page that he believes the removal of Cg to be the last barrier towards this port, meaning that we may be seeing the Mac version fairly soon.
